Choosing your rug

What is the difference between sisal, seagrass, jute and wool rugs?

Sisal is our most popular fibre. It is strong and hard-wearing, with a crisp, defined texture, and suits living rooms, dining rooms and hallways.

Seagrass has a smooth, naturally waxy surface, so spills are slower to soak in. It is very durable and keeps its natural tones.

Jute is the softest plant fibre, with a chunky, relaxed look. It is best in bedrooms and living areas with lighter foot traffic.

Wool and our wool and jute blends are the softest and warmest underfoot, and suit bedrooms and living rooms.

Which rug is best for a hallway or high-traffic area?

Sisal and seagrass are the hardest-wearing choices. Compact, low-profile weaves such as Eldorado sisal are ideal for hallways, home offices and dining rooms. For wool, Pebble Beach has a durable low loop pile for high-use spaces. We make hallway runners up to 20 metres long.

Are natural fibre rugs good with pets?

Tight, low-profile weaves are the best choice with pets, because claws are less likely to catch than on large, loose loops. Talk to us about your pets and we will suggest rugs to sample.

Can I use a natural rug in a kitchen, bathroom or outdoors?

Natural fibres need to stay dry, so we don't recommend them for bathrooms, laundries or uncovered outdoor areas. In kitchens and dining rooms, seagrass or a rug with our fabric protection makes spills easier to manage.

Will my rug look exactly like the photos?

Our rugs are made from natural fibres, so small differences in colour and texture between batches are normal. Strong direct sunlight can also fade natural fibres over time. Samples are the best way to see the true colour in your light.

Custom sizes

Can you make a rug in any size?

Yes. Every rug in our range can be made to your exact size, with no extra charge for custom sizing. We make every rug within 2 cm of the size you order. We also make long runners up to 20 metres, round and oval rugs, irregular shapes and cut-outs. Rugs over 4 metres on both sides are hand joined.

How do I get a price?

Open any rug and choose Custom size. Enter your size to see the price and order online straight away. For odd shapes, several rugs for one project, or help measuring, send us an enquiry or call 08 8363 2828. We reply within one business day.

Which edge finish should I choose?

Depending on the material, you can choose binding, folded edges, folded edges with underlay, or selvedge and tuck. Pure wool rugs are overlocked. Compare our edge finishes.

Yes. Designers, architects and builders can apply for trade pricing through our Trade Hub.

Care

How do I clean a natural fibre rug?

Vacuum regularly using suction only, without a rotating brush or beater bar. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth, and use as little water as possible. Never steam clean or wet clean. Our dry extraction cleaning kits are made for natural fibres. Read the full care guide.

Can I protect my rug from stains?

Yes. We can professionally apply Fiber ProTector to any rug in our range. It helps protect against oil and water-based spills while keeping the rug's natural look and feel. It does not make a rug waterproof or stain-proof. Learn about fabric protection.

Do wool rugs get moths?

Moths are attracted to wool. Vacuum regularly and check your rug every 6 to 12 months for any signs of moths.
